Peter Travers

Director/Owner

Agricultural Background. Peter comes from an agricultural background. His Father was a successful farmer on the Darling Downs. After School he spent 4 years at Gatton College graduating with a degree in Rural Technology.

Experience across Agricultural Industry. He worked on a corporate farm in the Namoi Valley cotton growing area and progressed from tractor driver to chief Agronomist. Peter spent several years working for a chemical reseller in Wee Waa, before joining an agricultural consulting agency in Dubbo.

Aviation experience. The bite from the aviation bug is fatal and despite a successful career in agriculture he turned to aviation and completed his commercial pilots licence and agricultural rating. Over the next 15 years he worked for a variety of aerial applicators across eastern Australia accumulating experience on many aircraft types and operations. He also spent 5 years travelling to Canada to work the northern summer on the plains of Manitoba.

Eventually he settled in Goondiwindi, Queensland and graduated to Operations Manager of a large aerial application company there. He got married and had a child and even found time to start a Masters in Business Administration which fizzled out to a Diploma of Business Management. University wasn't like the good old days!!

Manages his own business. When the opposition business went into receivership, Peter saw his opportunity and purchased the airstrip and salvaged the client base. For the last 4 years he has managed to develop a successful aerial application business. Starting from scratch he was able to utilise his business training to develop business models, Oh&S plans and marketing strategies and is currently pursuing a Quality Assurance program.

Broader industry participation. Peter also sits on the board of the Aerial Agricultural Association of Australia. The AAAA provides representation to Australia's Aerial Applicators at the national level. It has an executive officer and office space in Canberra. It represents it's members to Government bodies such as CASA and APVMA and sits on many boards and committees helping to formulate policy and regulation for the industry.

Ask around. Peter is well known in the industry and has a good practical and theoretical grasp of his industry. He feels able to contribute to any organisation that wishes to improve its presence, or knowledge in this area.
