Grass Seed, Pellet and Bait Application
Air Ag have specialized equipment to apply accurate amounts of low rate solids. This may be pasture seed, mouse baits or granular herbicides. The ‘Meterate is a positive displacement applicator that can be attached to the aircraft to ensure that low rates of product can be accurately applied. These are some examples of the types of products that can be applied:
Tebuthiuron is a high quality herbicide granule for the long term control of Brigalow and teatree regrowth, Mimosa pigra and certain problem woody weeds. It is applied at rates of up to 8Kg per hectare. Due to it’s high cost and effective nature it is important to ensure that its application is done to a high degree of accuracy.
Air Ag have been accredited by Granular Products Pty Ltd (the Australian Manufacturers and suppliers) to apply Tebuthiuron. The product label states that only approved operators are permitted to apply Tebuthiuron and that all equipment used to do the application must be calibrated and approved by Granular Products.
Pasture Seed Sowing.
Pasture seed can be quite expensive, sometimes very small and needs to be applied at quite low rates between 2 Kg/Ha up to about 15 Kg/Ha. The Meterate is the best equipment to apply grass seed
Aircraft are an ideal method of applying pasture seed across undulating or rough country. The best time is just prior to a rain event or just after when the soil is wet and the aircraft is able to do this quickly and efficiently
‘Any type of pasture seed that is not bearded or fluffy will flow through the meterate. We are not able to apply buffel seed unless it is prilled.
Mouse Bait
Mouse Off mouse bait needs to be applied at rates as low as 1Kg/ha and is very effective at halting mouse plaques in crops. Our Meterate can accurately dispense the bait at this low rate and the aircraft can carry enough product to bait up to 1500Ha at a time, meaning that large areas can be treated very quickly and economically.
Product Handling
A lot of baits and pellets are very delicate and can be destroyed by rough handling. Air Ag utilize a conveyor loader rather than an auger for loading the aircraft. This ensures the product is applied un damaged. The loader has a set of scales incorporated so products can be accurately measured into the aircraft.
